Check out the new Makers & Artists added to our Virtual Marketplace!

Everyday, we are adding 5 more makers to our Virtual Marketplace. Our Virtual Marketplace is meant to bring you the best Chicago Makers & Artists that are usually showcasing their work at our in-person Handmade Happy Hours monthly markets.

Why buy from local, independent businesses?

It is so important, now more than ever, to shop local and support local businesses.

According to the American Independent Business Alliance,

On average, 48 percent of each purchase at local independent businesses was recirculated locally, compared to less than 14 percent of purchases at chain stores.

This means that, on average, 48% of each purchase at local independent businesses – including restaurants, independent shops, etc – is “re-spent in the local area as payroll, goods/services purchased from area businesses, profits spent locally by owners, and as donations to area charities.”

HHH Makers & Artists, and the venues we choose to host our monthly markets and/or Artist Networking Events, are local Chicago businesses, supporting other local Chicago businesses. Making a purchase from an HHH artist means so much more than the sale itself – it not only supports their business, it supports the continuity of our markets, which in turn, support local venues.

The venues we have booked recently & for markets in the future are local bars & restaurants (like the Twisted Hippo, Emporium, and Eris Brewery & Cider House, just to name a few), and it’s crucial to them that we have our markets as planned. In order to have our markets as planned, our artists, and the HHH organization, need to generate income to stay in business.

As much as we like making big sales, the small sales are keeping us going right now. Please consider visiting our Virtual Marketplace to support our Makers, and please consider donating a few dollars to our GoFundMe to ensure Handmade Happy Hours remains a market you can look forward to in the (hopefully near) future.

We can’t wait to be back, live and in action, selling & networking & supporting one another. Until then, keep on keepin’ on and let us know if you have any questions or comments 🙂
